A week ago a friend told me about a Church Easter Hunt, free pancakes,Service type a deal.
One week later I walked into that church having not told her I was going to go,with my son not knowing anyone.
Into the eating place, a boy from my sons school runs up. We sit with his mom and sisters.
I stand beside that Mom while the friend that invited me looks after the children in the nursery. My son and her son have interacted more with one another than we have. I feel at peace.
This is cool.
This is the socializing I would like to become more involved in. I am good at it. I like the confidence I can feel in knowing I am doing something that feels comfortable. Like my old self used to do with ease, with grace. With connection and soul and listening. I’m a pro.
Just over the years I started thinking too much.I was the minority for one thing, in the country of Thai Language, and then coming back here since I had lost a lot of my self over there, I couldn’t really stand on two feet conversing and feel good about it.
It’s happened a few times before within the four years I have had this blog.
That come home, check WordPress feeling.
Of continually wanting to write and express and tell the cyberworld all the things I see in a day.
Like the nailpolish of a- I swear-92 year old woman. There is no way she could have got it done professionally. For in all the blob nation, from cuticles to finger wrinkles, it was like a paintball had exploded on each nail.
I grinned inside and thought inside, ‘ hey, what’s 92 gonna be like without giving nailpolish a try’.
Something special happens in every single day of our lives.
For some, it may be that first conscious breath they take every time they wake up, for some it may be the fact they run 18 miles in an hour and twenty minutes.
It can deal with the same goal or involve different people or ideas. It can be anything you want it to be.
It is all based on perspective.
Today my special was hearing a piano.
It echoed throughout the soi’s* in the village.
So that I could hear it down almost every single one.
It was like it had no home- that it was everywhere in the air.
And I breathed in deeply and the music notes went right to my toes.
Five years ago I probably wouldn’t have thought this would be a special.
Pianos are rare in Thailand due to the humidity. Other than in the music store I have only seen one. In a hotel.
I think it’s important to find your special within the day. It is not just something that separates that day from the next, it also brings in valuable appreciation.
Find your daily special for happier days and ultimately, a better life.
